Reviews & Testimonials Setup

Social proof is crucial for building trust. Kenso includes both a reviews system and a testimonials carousel.

Reviews Section

Enabling Reviews

  1. Go to Theme Settings (gear icon)
  2. Find "Reviews" section
  3. Toggle "Enable reviews" ON
  4. Save

Photo Uploads

  • Toggle to allow customers to upload photos
  • Great for authentic social proof
  • Photos appear with review text

Review Display

Reviews show:

  • Star rating (1-5)
  • Review text
  • Reviewer name
  • Date
  • Photos (if enabled)

Sorting Options

Customers can sort reviews by:

  • Most recent
  • Highest rated
  • Most helpful

Managing Reviews

Reviews are managed in Shopify:

  1. Go to Shopify Admin
  2. Apps or Product reviews section
  3. Approve, edit, or remove reviews

Moderation Tips

  • Respond to negative reviews professionally
  • Thank positive reviewers
  • Remove spam/fake reviews
  • Keep a mix of ratings for authenticity

Setting Up

  1. Go to Home page in theme editor
  2. Find "Testimonials" section
  3. Click to configure

Adding Testimonials

Kenso supports up to 20 testimonial images:

  1. Click on a testimonial slot
  2. Upload an image
  3. Repeat for each testimonial

Recommended Content

  • Screenshots of positive DMs
  • Customer success stories
  • Social media mentions
  • Before/after results

Carousel Settings

Animation Speed

  • How fast images scroll
  • Slower = easier to read
  • Faster = more dynamic

Max Width

  • How wide the carousel is
  • Adjust for your images

Image Height

  • Consistent height for all images
  • Adjust based on content

Headline

  • Section title
  • e.g., "What Our Customers Say"

Best Practices

For Reviews

  1. Encourage reviews - Follow up with customers
  2. Make it easy - Provide clear instructions
  3. Respond - Engage with reviewers
  4. Be authentic - Don't fake reviews

For Testimonials

  1. Get permission - Before using customer content
  2. Crop nicely - Remove irrelevant parts
  3. Show variety - Different types of feedback
  4. Update regularly - Fresh content matters

Getting More Reviews

Email Follow-up

Send an email after purchase asking for reviews:

  • Wait a few days
  • Make the ask specific
  • Provide a direct link

Incentives (Carefully)

  • Offer discount for honest review
  • Don't pay for positive reviews specifically
  • Follow platform guidelines

  • Direct link to review section
  • Simple rating system
  • Optional detailed feedback

Troubleshooting

Reviews Not Showing

  1. Check reviews are enabled
  2. Verify products have reviews
  3. Ensure license is active

Testimonials Not Scrolling

  1. Check multiple images are uploaded
  2. Verify animation settings
  3. Clear browser cache

Images Look Wrong

  1. Use consistent image sizes
  2. Check height settings
