Accessing the Theme Editor
The Shopify Theme Editor is where you customize your Kenso theme. Here's how to access and use it.
Getting to the Theme Editor
Method 1: From Themes Page
- Go to Shopify Admin
- Click Online Store → Themes
- Find your Kenso theme
- Click "Customize"
Method 2: Direct URL
You can also go directly to:
https://YOUR-STORE.myshopify.com/admin/themes/current/editor
Theme Editor Overview
The editor has several key areas:
Left Sidebar - Sections
This shows all the sections on your current page:
- Header
- Product grids
- Testimonials
- FAQ
- Footer
- etc.
Click any section to edit it.
Center - Preview
A live preview of your store. Changes appear here in real-time.
Bottom Left - Theme Settings
Click the gear icon (⚙️) to access global settings:
- Colors
- Branding
- License
- Typography
Top Bar - Page Selector
Switch between different pages:
- Home page
- Product pages
- Collection pages
- Cart page
- etc.
Adding Sections
To add a new section:
- Look for "Add section" in the left sidebar
- Click it to see available sections
- Choose the section you want
- It will be added to your page
You can drag sections to reorder them.
Editing Sections
To edit a section:
- Click the section name in the left sidebar
- Section settings will appear
- Make your changes
- Changes preview in real-time
Removing Sections
To remove a section:
- Click the section to select it
- Click the trash icon or "Remove section"
- Confirm if prompted
Saving Changes
Important: Always click "Save" in the top right corner when you're done!
Changes are not saved automatically. If you leave without saving, your changes will be lost.
Preview vs. Publish
- Preview: See changes before they go live (use the preview option)
- Save: Save changes to your theme (still not live if theme is unpublished)
- Publish: Make the theme live on your store
Mobile Preview
To see how your store looks on mobile:
- Click the device icons at the top of the editor
- Choose mobile, tablet, or desktop view
- Make adjustments as needed
Mobile experience is crucial - most customers shop on phones!
Tips
- Work in sections: Focus on one section at a time
- Save often: Click save regularly to avoid losing work
- Use preview: Test changes before publishing
- Keep a backup: Duplicate your theme before major changes
