Changing Theme Language
Want to use Kenso in a different language? Here's how to change the theme's text and language settings.
Understanding Theme Language
Kenso's text content comes from two places:
- Theme Settings - Customizable labels and text
- Shopify's Language Files - Standard e-commerce terms
Changing Customizable Text
Many text elements can be changed directly in the theme editor:
Section-Specific Text
- Go to Theme Editor (Customize)
- Click on a section
- Find text fields like:
- Headlines - Button text - Descriptions
- Change to your preferred language
- Save
Theme Settings Text
- Go to Theme Settings (gear icon)
- Look for text fields:
- Brand name - Chatbot name and messages - CTA button text
- Update as needed
- Save
Shopify Language Settings
For standard e-commerce terms (Add to Cart, Checkout, etc.):
Method 1: Edit Theme Language
- Go to Shopify Admin → Online Store → Themes
- Click "..." menu on your Kenso theme
- Select "Edit default theme content" or "Edit languages"
- Find and edit the text strings
- Save
Method 2: Shopify Translation Apps
For full translations, consider:
- Langify
- Weglot
- Translation Lab
These apps handle automatic translation and multi-language stores.

Setting Store Language
To change your store's primary language:
- Go to Shopify Admin → Settings
- Click Languages
- Add or change your primary language
- Set as default if needed
Multi-Language Stores
If you need multiple languages:
Shopify Markets
- Go to Settings → Markets
- Add regions/countries
- Configure language for each market
- Shopify handles automatic switching
Translation Apps
For more control:
- Weglot - Automatic translation + editor
- Langify - Manual translations
- Translation Lab - AI-powered translations
RTL (Right-to-Left) Languages
For Arabic, Hebrew, etc.:
- Kenso supports RTL layouts
- Enable RTL in Shopify language settings
- Theme will adjust automatically
Tips
- Be consistent - Use the same terms throughout
- Test thoroughly - Check all pages after changes
- Mobile check - Some translations are longer, verify on mobile
- Customer feedback - Ask native speakers to review
